Catalinas

A Catalina is a coupon that prints at the register after you are done paying. It prints out of a machine next to the register, after your receipt prints. It is usually triggered by an item that was purchased in that transaction. Most of the time you have to buy a certain number of times, like buy 10 items and get a $10 catalina. It also can be triggered when you buy a dollar amount like $20 of participating products and get a $5 catalina back.. Some times it’s a coupon and sometimes a gift certificate that is used like cash on your next purchase. My local stores that participate are Albertsons, Ralphs, Vons, and Walgreens. At Walgreens they call them Register Rewards.

Family Fun and Free Ideas

1. Go to a park and have a picnic!
2. Museum or National Park: Super Museum (and free) Sunday is coming up in Savannah, GA (Feb 6th). What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with the family!
3. National Parks have free days in 2011: National Park Week (April 16-24), the first day of summer (June 21), National Public Lands Day (September 24), and the weekend of Veterans Day (November 11-13).
4. See what events are scheduled at your local library. At the very least they should have a storytime for kids. (Another great way to help promote literacy). We are there at least 3x a week.
5. Home Depot Kids workshops! Free and they get an apron and a pin:

You can, but be careful what sites you use. I will list a few sites I use that I know for a fact do as they say.

Do you drink soda? Is it Coke products that your family drinks? Are you entering the codes underneath the lids at http://www.mycokerewards.com/ ?   If not you are throwing away free stuff!

I have received coupons for free 12 pks, free 20 oz coupons, 1 yr subscriptions to our favorite magazines, movie tickets, etc. All for taking a few moments to enter in the codes found on the inside of my husbands 20 oz Coke lids, (worth 3 points), or in the box of 12 or 24pk Coke products  (worth 10 points). :)
